This is a breakthrough for GlobalX, which is still finding its feet in the U.S. market, but they\u2019re ready to take on the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>The new airline, which doesn\u2019t have a name yet, will focus on cargo and passenger services in Australia and key Asian markets. GlobalX is working with ATB Investment &amp; Partners, a private equity group that started in Vietnam in 2023 and recently moved to Melbourne, Australia. The plan is to get an air operator\u2019s certificate in Australia and start flying by late 2025. A market research report estimates the regional charter flight market could reach $6.8 billion a year. This new venture aims to meet that demand, especially during busy travel seasons when airlines are most under pressure and need extra help.<\/p>\n<p>The A321 freighter can carry up to 25 tons of cargo, which makes it perfect for this region&#8217;s shorter routes. Ryan Goepel, GlobalX\u2019s president and CFO believes this venture can help existing A321 operators in the area while building a strong charter service.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Aircraft_Fleet\"><\/span>The Aircraft Fleet<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Airbus A321 is a cost-effective, narrow-body plane great for regional flights. It competes with the Boeing 737-800 freighter but has an advantage because it can carry small containers on the lower deck. GlobalX already has four A321 freighters in its U.S. fleet, and these could be among the first planes sent to Australia. Instead of letting these planes sit idle, GlobalX plans to use them where they\u2019re needed most.<\/p>\n<p>ATB Investment &amp; Partners is funding the venture, led by Eric Dang, who previously headed Bamboo Airways. Dang\u2019s experience in the aviation industry is well-fitted to take over this project. He\u2019ll serve as chairman and CEO of the new airline during its early stages.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Challenges_and_Opportunities\"><\/span>Challenges and Opportunities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>GlobalX started offering passenger charter flights three years ago and added cargo services in 2023. The goal was to have 15 A321 freighters by 2026, but finding cargo customers proved difficult. To focus on its profitable passenger business, GlobalX paused its cargo expansion.
