Less-than-truckload carrier Roadrunner has recently announced the expansion of its Canadian cross-border service to include locations in western Canada. The company will now serve Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton from its Seattle terminal.<\/p>\n
Roadrunner had previously launched service to Toronto and Montreal via Detroit in January. The latest expansion into western Canada comes in response to customer demand.<\/p>\n
Tomasz Jamroz, Roadrunner’s Chief Operating Officer stated that the decision to expand into western Canada is in response to customer requests for more service options in that region.<\/p>\n
The Seattle terminal was chosen due to its operational success, having recently won an internal competition across Roadrunner’s 40-plus service centers based on service, efficiency, and accuracy metrics.<\/p>\n
This expansion follows Roadrunner’s launch of a guaranteed service offering and one-day service between Southern California and Chicago. The company touts more long-haul, direct routes between major metropolitan markets than any other national carrier.<\/p>\n
Roadrunner is using data and analytics to determine which markets to expand into for its LTL services. The company believes that adding service to Western Canada will be very beneficial because it will start from its Seattle terminal. This terminal has a strong network that connects major cities directly, which is a key feature of Roadrunner’s operations. The unique metro-to-metro network allows for efficient and reliable shipping, making it easier to serve customers in the new Canadian markets.<\/p>\n
