That led the EIA to forecast higher diesel costs over the next two years in its latest short-term energy outlook.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Peak_Season_Disappointments\"><\/span>Peak Season Disappointments<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Cass Information System\u2019s November report paints a gloomy picture of what was supposed to be the freight industry\u2019s most profitable period. Both Cass\u2019 shipments and expenditures indices posted declines, suggesting minimal rate increases during the peak.<\/p>\n<p>Private fleet growth continues to divert loads from for-hire carriers when they need it most.
