Compared to the last deal, it&#8217;s an extra year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new deal between Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) and the United Automobile Workers (UAW) is six years longer than the old one. After a five-week strike in 2021, this deal was made.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mack is a branch of VTNA, which is part of Volvo Group North America and has its headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Most of the people who work for Mack in Lower Macungie Township make Class 8 trucks. The company&#8217;s Lehigh Valley Operations in Pennsylvania are made up of the assembly plant and the remanufacturing business, both of which are in Middletown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company also has a place to store and ship parts in Baltimore, Maryland, and another in Jacksonville, Florida. The only thing known about the deal is how long it will last until the 3,900 Mack workers in three states vote to approve it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mack President Stephen Roy stated in a news release that the terms of this tentative agreement would provide significantly increased wages and maintain first-class benefits for Mack employees and their families. The company would be able to successfully compete in the market and continue making necessary investments in our people, plants, and products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The union&#8217;s attempts to organize Mack&#8217;s Roanoke Operations in Virginia, where the company will start making medium-duty trucks in 2020, are something important to watch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mack went back to making medium-duty trucks after the last UAW deal was settled. The battery-powered version of the Class 6-7 MD Series is set to go into production soon. The company hasn&#8217;t said anything about where the plant will be.
